  16. I've just installed BlitzBank on my system, and I wanted to drop you a note
  17. saying I LOVE it!  I remember running BlitzBank a LONG time ago, and I must
  18. say the current product is quite polished.  Great work.

  20. I do have a bug(?) I'd like to report, and some requests/suggestions.

  22. First, my system:
  23.  
  24. Configuration: A4000/040, 25 MHz, 18 MB RAM, 850 MB HD, Cybervision 64 (2 MB),
  25. Emplant Deluxe, Apple CD300 drive, AmigaOS 3.0, 17" Multiscanning monitor.

  27. Problems:
  28.      1. The Blackout module doesn't work at all.  Opening preferences and
  29.         selecting blackout and "test" just sits there -- no blanking of screen
  30.         or even a deselection of the window that may indicate something is
  31.         happening.  As such, testing the blankers under heavy CPU loads
  32.         (printing from PageStream, etc) doesn't revert to a black screen.
  33.         (yes, I do have "Watch CPU" selected).
  34.         Also, in between random blanker modules, the WB or underlying screen
  35.         shows for a second until the module loads.  I presume it's supposed to
  36.         remain black while the next module loads?
  37.  
  38.      2. "Spot" doesn't work.  With the default settings, only 1 spot, and a
  39.         Cybergraphics WB (on the Cybervision 64 card, 1152 x 900 x 256),
  40.         clicking on "test" deselects the config window for a fraction of a
  41.         second, then it reslects and nothing happens.
  42.  
  43.   I wonder if these two problems are related to the Cybergfx system?  Perhaps
  44.   a simple "config" option for a screenmode for the blackout blanker would get
  45.   around this??

  47.  Suggestions:
  48.      1. I would LOVE an Aquarium blanker.  You've included the flying
  49.         toaster one, but I'd be eternally greatful for a fishy one. (I can't
  50.         program).
  51.  
  52.      2. DPMS Power Management!!!  NO PD or Shareware blanker offers control
  53.         over DPMS-compliant monitors (Display Power Management).  These
  54.         monitors, when combined with a smart screenblanker, can go from one of
  55.         three modes: ON, Standby and OFF.  Of course, the monitor switches
  56.         back to ON with unblanking.  The standby modes use only <30W of power
  57.         and the OFF mode uses less than 5 Watts!  Almost all new monitors work
  58.         like this.  I have a commercial program called PowerManager from
  59.         Wonder Computers which does this, but it gets messed up with the A2320
  60.         flicker fixer I have installed on my A4000 to view NTSC and PAL
  61.         screens on my 17" Multiscanning monitor -- it only makes the monitor
  62.         go into standby mode.  If you could add DPMS to your blanker, it'd be
  63.         a first in the PD market!!!

  65.  ** --> This is also a challenge (and request) to ALL screenblanker developers:
  66.         Why haven't we seen ANY PD DPMS screenblankers for the Amiga?  Although
  67.         I can't program, I think that the DPMS signals are just simple signals
  68.         sent over the video hardware.
